Fun to read the story front to back. The image of Madeleine rising from her grave with a blood soaked burial shroud and then taking out Roderick is chilling. Kind of hard not to speculate on all of the mental health and practical disease at play as a modern reader with Web MD but it gets its point across with the text itself

Reading and rereading these over and over, I can totally see how Poe influenced Lovecraft.
