why are all t. kingfishers characters horny as fuck, i cannot take it

You are on a thin ice book, don' t make me hate you. I already knew the romance is not going to be for me (this time it makes much less sense than in her other books because the characters are not awkward or lacking people around them or love) but this on page 54? i refuse this, i hate it. It reads like cheap romantasy and the plot is not even that interesting to make me forget this.

“I don’t like people unless I’m killing them.”

“Really stupid people die all the time. And if they can manage it, I oughta have no problem.”
