If she asks me one more time if I know what some very specific dog show/breeding thing is I am going to smack my hand on something hard. Don't ask me, just assume I don't know what any of this is.
At the same time, 25% of the book (so far 1/2 of the 1/2 I have read) has been explaining dog showing/breeding nuances to me. Do I honestly need to know ALL of this to understand your story and the mystery?
