Some things I already knew in here from school and second nature, but I'm learning about phonics and how it's better to start big with books and then work your way back down to words, letters, and sounds vs. small to big, especially because English is not an easy language to learn.

My lovely mother in law works in early childhood education and has always told me how much she loves Mem Fox. So I mostly picked up this book because of her high regard for her but also because I have a struggling reader and I just need help finding how to help her. There was so much to take away and so much I resonate with as a read aloud parent, mostly that my kids and I have the best time together while reading!
