Not sure of the truth to the author recounting a man being trapped in the rubble, and then being shot by a bystander before the fire got him. There were many stories like this, but none can be verified and for all the numerous autopsies that were conducted, there were only one or two that had been shot. Of course, many were burned in the fire and autopsies were not possible.

Noticing a lot of incorrect information, possibly because I just finished Simon Winchester‘s book on the same subject. It was not just the wind pushing the fire, it was the abundance of combustible material that allowed the fire to grow.

The author also seems to be very black-and-white on everyone involved. Either someone is a heroic angel or a dastardly villain. There’s a lot of room for gray area, in truth.
