Okay man, this book is not working for me. I'm nodding along while Starla says that one of her mum's ex boyfriends was named Nöel and had a beard that smelt of christmas trees; I fall out of my seat when she says she hates herself being turned on at the smell of a real tree. Imma head out, maybe some other time.

I feel like I can only see weird things in this book; Starla observing about her mother "Her huge breasts beached on top of her belly make her look like some sort of magnificent mermaid. Maybe she came from the lake? Am I a human child she stole?" Is there an actual specific purpose to noticing mummy's tits? Is this considered to be regular? I feel like my grasp on sanity is being tested a little.
