A lark and a laugh, with a bit of depth. It's been quite a while since I read these, but I saw my goodreads status was incomplete, and I decided to update status. I remember it was funny, fun, sometimes thoughtful and insightful, well paced, a world well built, and highly creative. It wasn't in the top tier, most important, must read category for me, but it was very enjoyable, and I'm happy to have read it.

If anything Hive Monkey, the second book in this trilogy is even madder than the first.
Pulp heroes, airships, a borg-like cult and a monkey in search of a troupe. As with the previous novel, this is a really fun read which also has a few serious points to make.
And the sheer believability of the world Gareth L. Powell really is quite incredible.

I'm 2 chapters into the first book and hooked.
Near-future, not quite cyberpunk.
