Status Updates From Darkness and Dawn Volume 1

I'm torn on this book, the characters are shallow and (the male particularly is) horribly sexist, but the writing style is interesting and discussing how the NYC area has changed is interesting (even their version 100 yr ago is very different than now).

this was originally published in 1914, and I've already gotten to the first "don't worry your head.." line from the male character to the [lost/ helpless] female character. I was hoping this would be the same kind of tale as The Earth Abides... or at least the first half of that book, which had able bodied, doesn't faint constantly, women.
