I was a bit surprised but this is shaping up to be a really good read. Kiwi author on her OE working in a bookstore in the U.K wants to be a writer and so attempts to rewrite Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 (Which I read earlier this year so I get all of the references) while discussing her life, marriage, experiences and thoughts.

'I wanted to rewrite Fahrenheit 451 from the perspective of the female characters but failed... My rebooted draft was a book about a book... Autobiography: the consolation prize.'
No failure or consolation prize. I loved this. The only trouble is, it's so personal, specific, and meta, I can't imagine what she'll write next, but I'm sure she will, and I'll be eager to try it.

Megan Dunn's rambling narrative of her seemingly hopeless attempts to write an homage to Bradbury's 451 for NaNoWriMo, is a charming, funny, poignant, relatable, utterly original delight. Yet the self-deprecating text has beautiful writing, carefully echoing Bradbury's own, especially re rain, fire, and, of course, books.

(Page irrelevant, as mine is 150 pages total, not the 200 listed on GR.)
