This wasn't terrible, but I'm glad it's over & I won't be continuing the series

I thought this was supposed to be a reverse harem book but so far Atticus is the only one who has shown romantic feelings for Evie & he doesn't really seem like the sharing type. I know she thought Ranulf was hot but he's mated to Astrid. I'm not really interested in seeing her date ANY of the guys to be honest.

Well, I'm happy she went demon hunting alone since Atticus benched her but she still needs to make it clear to him that she's not some fragile female who needs protected. From what I've seen so far, she's more powerful than him anyway!

This book is trying my patience. I honestly can't wait to be done with it. I like Evie, but WHY is she letting Atticus boss her around? She is perfectly capable of protecting herself, just like she has for almost 200 years & she shouldn't let him tell her what to do. I REALLY don't like Atticus or the way he treats her. Too bad the book isn't about Astrid & Ranulf.

Great. Now their bonded because they got blackout drunk! How romantic! No proposal, no wedding & he's still lying to her & ignoring her! She deserves so much better!

Astrid & Ranulf are mates?!! That's a twist I didn't see coming. I knew that ended up together but I didn't realize they were mates!

He really has NO respect for her. First, he moves into her apartment without ASKING her if she wants him to, then he asks her how she feels about the ring he gave her, without ever actually proposing to her! Not to mention that he's completely AVOIDING telling her that he's been keeping a secret from her! Talking about MARRIAGE before he tells her the truth? REALLY? This feels like a trap & it's fucked up!

Why is Evie so sure a demon killed her? I mean, what kind of demon sneaks into someone's house on Christmas & kills the parents but leaves the 17 year old alive & then writes a letter & wraps sick presents? It's too calculated & personal for it to be a demon. Her parents had been hiding from Cyrus, so why doesn't she suspect him? He has motive & a demon would've killed everyone!

I'm still shocked that Atticus or Zahur hasn't figured out that Cyrus had her parents killed yet!

Atticus is a complete fucking dick! He knows Evie can have kids with him & he still has sex with her BEFORE telling her he's keeping a huge secret from her. That means, if she got pregnant, she'd be stuck with him in her life forever & not giving her that choice shows that he doesn't RESPECT her! She DESERVES the truth & that she's in danger of being found by the man Atticus KNOWS she's been hiding from ALL her life!

Dam it Atticus! You HAVE to tell her the truth BEFORE you sleep with her! Now is the perfect opportunity. Just say "Remember that sick fuck who raised me? His name is Cyrus & I cut off ties with him as soon as I found out what he did to your family." It's SIMPLE!!! Don't wait for Cyrus to show up & tell her some twisted lie designed to break them up & make her not trust him, because that's exactly what will happen!

I can't believe what an IDIOT Atticus is! He just showed his hand to Cyrus & now he'll be coming for her! Why didn't he just pretend everything was normal to buy some time to tell Evie about Cyrus & convince her to run away with him? At this rate, Cyrus will show up before he tells her the truth & he's going to fuck everything up! Just tell her right away, you idiot! Of course he won't bc it's more dramatic not too.

I get why Evie doesn't want Atticus to give her money so she can keep her bookstore, but he could have offered to loan it to her, or he could've just gone to the landlord & paid him or made a deal with him by offering to pay him to get him to agree to letting her make payments. Then she could keep the store & she wouldn't even have to know that he bribed the guy. He did say he had access to tons of money!

Atticus NEEDS to tell Evelyn about Cyrus before Cyrus shows up & she finds out he kept it from her. He should at least stop ignoring Cyrus when he calls because if he doesn't, he'll KNOW somethings wrong & come to get Evie himself.

Ok, that was a twist I didn't see coming. What a sneaky little bastard Cyrus is! I can't wait until Evelyn kicks his ass!

This book might be too twisted for me to really enjoy. Cyrus is clearly a sociopath who really fucked Atticus up and is probably the one who killed Evie's parents. I hope she kills him.

I started reading this because I was curious about Evelyn after meeting her in The Veil Diaries book 5, "When Evil Comes To Play", but now I'm seriously rethinking it. This is BEYOND fucked up! Why didn't Evie just TELL Atticus EXACTLY what would happen if he didn't call her before killing anything? He's still an asshole for not calling but the consequences to her were worth mentioning! I think I'm going to be sick!
