I wanted these fairy tale retellings on my shelf because they are the sort of contemporary literature I want my kids to eventually find and read. I didn't exactly expect the 8-year-old to pick my Christmas present up and start getting super into it, but here we are. Now that I think of it, wuxia would be right up her alley.
