Reading this book for school. However it’s incredibly interesting and discusses the civil rights movements throughout the U.S wars and how racism, segregation, Jim Crow, etc. played a huge role in the military (and the nation). It details the efforts toward racial equality and the push back received.

It is refreshing to read a study written before Obama and Trump, and this one is a jewel. The book is a superb and detailed review of American racial history.
