I bought this on the recommendation of my advisor/professor in my Ed program. I’m reading the 3rd edition. I don’t agree (so far) with referring to verbal communication as “violent” or “nonviolent” but I am finding the strategies useful. I hope it will help me be a more compassionate communicator at work and in my family.

replacing our instinct to blame, defend, shut down, or attack with compassion and curiosity.

To pause and focus on what actually happened (without adding opinions), how it made us feel, and what need those feelings are pointing to.

To communicate them in that order too
