I read this when I was around 10, and wrote book reports absolutely glazing this book (even tho I found it a snoozefest.)

So her husband finds out she’s lowkey trying to seduce Ged and he is the master of the stone so he sends the creatures of the stone after them. The woman(Serret) freaks out and turns into a gull but I think they get her and she dies. Outside the fortress, Ged finds out that his otak friend died :( and crashes out, turns into a hawk, and flies back to Ogion

He outsmarted the dragon and is now on the run from the shadow. He makes his way to Osskil and is ambushed by the shadow, almost dies, and then wakes up in a court and the lady of the court there is the ragebaiter from the early chapters with his old master Ogion. She knows he has the power to use the magic from a magic stone but she wants use the stone through him by controlling him.

Not to be a millennial about this book, but I’m obsessed with how the entire premise of the Earthsea Cycle appears to be “Ged fucks around, spends six books finding out”

So Ged gets the scars on his face when he tries to summon a dead spirit and accidentally summons a shadow. The archmage subdues the shadow but subsequently dies from using too much power and a new archmage is appointed. After years of learning, he goes to an island to protect the islanders from 9 dragons but the shadow is out to get him so he goes to get the dragons first so the shadow doesn’t harm the islanders

Loving that Ged is so far a realistic thirteen year old, which is to say he’s a little shit
