mrs wilcox just died??? it was so random, and it didn’t feel developed, but in a way, it was massively symbolic, everyone just moves on; her family don’t even understand what her house meant to her, poor ruth! was just getting to like her! well, the families seem less intertwined than ever, but i like the reflections of the book thus far

i thought to myself how 1910 is such an interesting time for a book to be written, and then a racist doll was mentioned. it’s funny how ideas can transcend time (margaret’s view on christmas, ideas about gender/women), but certain details age poorly! the wilcox’s seem insufferable aside from ruth, who seems passive and highly emotional, screw her husband for not getting her love for her home!
