Status Updates From Gemma

I will be honest, I am having to skim read this one because this book is so verbose. Things that could have easily been summed up in three sentences stretch out to multiple paragraphs , continuing on long after I got the point.
I like the dual narrative, but Gemma speaks like a little English teacher who also just exited an Appalachian honky tonk in the 70s. It reads so dated, very "How do you do, fellow kids?"
