That last volume went completely pear-shaped and was basically unintelligible. Snyder's telling rather than showing was on full display. So many meaningless soliloquies. incredibly incoherent storytelling, and I've been reading this series pretty consistently. Can't imagine how this was reading it month-to-month.

Jim Gordon as Batman is a swing-for-the-fences concept, but it's weird how much it doesn't develop Gordon. Also? Super strange that two of Snyder's arcs in his 60ish Batman run involve Bruce Wayne not in the cowl.
Not that that's bad, persay. And Dick Grayson being Batman in Black Mirror wasn't Snyders's doing, but it's strange that at least a third of his issues on Batman is Not-Bruce-Wayne as Batman.

Pro on that last chapter: Jock art.
Con on that last chapter: written by Scott Snyder and Brian Azzarello. Who thought this was a good idea? It’s the complete unintelligibility of tone-over-storytelling style from Azzarello combined with the tedious wordiness of Snyder.
What a waste of an issue.

Been alternating between the Snyder run on Batman and Chew to try to finish both. Can tell Chew is gonna go smoother than this so I’m crosscutting the two to help propel me over the finish line.
