Status Updates From I promessi sposi

Bon, bon, bon… Je suis toujours pris dans le bouquin, mais le récit devient un peu trop édifiant pour mon goût. Si l’âme des grands méchants pouvait être sauvée après, au moins, quelques glauques méfaits, ce serait sympa, ça me divertirait un peu plus.
Il reste un petit peu plus de 300 pages… Manzoni, surprends-moi !

I’m finally done!! Posso avere una laurea di medio adesso? 😅 The conclusion is: when you have any troubles, place your faith in god. 😅 Italy could really use more secularism lol.

I keep thinking the religious stuff in the book is a metaphor or social critique— too used to secular education in China/sg/the us. but I guess the Catholicism in the book IS part of Italian literature and nation building. So interesting. It’s not overly preachy at least. There’s still a lot of social critique which I find interesting. Still a p dense read and weak plot tho. Cant imagine reading it in hs haha

J’aime bien le ton du narrateur.
Les personnages sont bien caractérisés.
