The first time I read this book, I read the unabridged version. The opening scene was one of the most profound things I had read. The sporadic meandering scenes of history brought me to a stop somewhere near the musings on the battle of Waterloo. This time I am reading an abridged version for pacing. I just read through the scene between the Bishop and Jean Valjean. Powerful. Moved me to tears.

So so good. So relatable. Meaning I can put myself into the situations of the characters and really feel it. Everything. Their pain and choices etc.
