Cassie thinks her father is spy - what is in all the cardboard boxes he is storing all over the house? Jonas finds out he is adopted and runs away, to find his real parents. Cassie finds his clue, and goes after him. A school bully, Rhea Grimm, is on the same bus! They end up helping each other and forge a tentative friendship. Cassie's mother had moved out and has a boyfriend. The end is a hopeful one.

11-year-old Cassie, who is good at finding lost things, is called on by the Hudson's every time their pet peacocks, William Shakespear and Virginia wander away. She has a Notebook for Noticing, and a super smart friend, Jonas. Cassie's life is turning upside down and she can't locate the peacocks. Her older sister decides to live outside the house, her father is acting strange, and her mom is cooking all the time.

A slow start, starting to pick up, but it’s time for bed. Can’t wait to read more!!!
