4 hours in and the real adventure has yet to begin. The setup reminds me a lot of Red Rising, but from a Gold's perspective. I have not connected with the protagonist because he's just a selfish spoil brat at this stage. What he asked if his tutor could get the tutor killed.

If not for the rave reviews, I would have dropped the book by this point.
