Status Updates From Un lugar para mí

I’m on page 106 of Something In Between by Melisa de la Cruz. The book is written from the main character Jasmine's POV, so it makes it easy to follow. I love how the author relates to teenagers and shows Jasmine's character; for example, she says, “It's not that im playing hard to get-I do have a lot of studying to do” (de la Cruz 40). I think this is a good quote to show Jasmine's unintentionally funny demeanor.

The novel Something in Between is full of intense, love, and compassion. I have really enjoyed reading this book because the main characters are in high school which is easy to relate to. “Even though you can't control the things that happen to you, you can control your perspective and your actions. There's never a moment you can't choose who you want to be" (15). This quote highlights powerful individuality.

I'm on page 42 of Something In Between by Melissa de la Cruz. The first conflict that I have recognized this early in the Book is how Jasmines scene perfection affects her personal life. Being from a family of immigrants, Jasmine always felt that she was being depended on to succeed, often causing her to miss out on life. She talks about “Everything [she's] given up” (Cruz 15) so that she could succeed in life.
