CHARACTERIZATION: My character is a African American track runner named Patina. I can characterize her as feeling very strongly about running track because she gets very upset about second play in a race. I know this because on page 7 she says, "I just sat down and didn't say a word for the rest of the meet ..." "...To me, I just like to win. I only want to win. Anything else is ... false. Fake."

Patina reminds me of when I was on a track team . The text says, “ no competition with no one there running with you ” by Jason Reynolds , page # 1 . This matters because this matters because in track meets with other schools it's not always a race it's a chance to run with another school .
