Status Updates From Earth to Charlie

As I leave class, papers seem to fall from the sky, filling the hallway with assignments and homework—both graded and never-turned-in . . . I hate students who throw all their schoolwork at the final bell. It seems like a slap in the face to teachers who try to do some good in their students’ lives.

“The sunset [photograph] might be my favorite.”
“It’s actually a sunrise. I like beginnings more than ends.”

“I’m only really working because I’m saving up for a truck. And then I won’t be stuck at work when it rains.”
“But then I won’t have the chance to pick you up.”

This isn’t split into chapters per se—more like flash fiction, in bursts of 2-4 pages. It’s an interesting technique, but I can’t tell if I like it yet.
