Chapter 33 - Some readers may find strange the tangle of monologues (Otávio's with himself) and his with three women (Teresa, Rachel, and Débora). This writing resource mixes time and intercut dialogues as if they followed a logical line, but which is not. It is called stream of consciousness.

Chapter 24 - The promise to give up sex is put aside for quite a while in the book - which is a surprise because the character, again and again, talks about sex. The understanding follows an unknown path while Otávio's emotional and professional life moves towards a conclusion. By the way, the writing is singular.

Chapter 19 - All the upheavals that Otávio faces train in a single day: the news that the company's president has been arrested, the singular lunch with his daughter, and the discovery of his wife's betrayal. In the midst of all this, he remembers remarkable events from his own childhood with his domineering and smothering father. There is resentment in Otávio's reflections.

Chapter 10 - First book I have read by the author, and I think I am impressed by the sharp language and cutting reasoning. Otávio is an economist in a marital crisis, with a problem child and a threat of dismissal. The story is set in a troubled economic context.
