Status Updates From The Mysteries of Udolpho

I do like the veil motif, both in nature and in the decrepit castles. It's also the theme of it all, I think.

My fun facts & musings thus far:
- Protagonist loses both of her parents within the first handful of chapters…heartbreaking!
- There is something rustling just beyond eyesight every other chapter or so…on the edge of my seat waiting for something scary to happen. (Think I’ll be waiting a while.)
- Setting is lush & gloomy.
- This book was so terrifying in its heyday, people assumed Radcliffe was insane.

Ok, I do have to say, this is way too long for the amount of story there is in here!

Loving this so far - I know everyone says the first part of the book is a slog, but for now, I'm fully invested.

damn!! it was only the first part of the book... there’s still a second one!! I can’t take any more of this crying and endless landscape descriptions 😩
