Status Updates From The Testing (The Testing, #1)

Mencia is just about to leave town to go to the testing, and her dad has warned her of how he has some memories of how terrible it was.

The setting is somewhere in Michigan because they are the 5 lakes tribe, it takes place sometime in the future because it's no longer called the great lakes, but the 5 lakes.

"robust, gray-haired woman" pg 11

Mencia went to the town’s leader where she met a Tosu official and 3 other classmates. She was told that they were are selected to go into the Testing and they’ll leave first light tomorrow. One of her classmates ask if they didn’t have to go, and was told it’s a crime with a reward of death if they don’t go. Now Mencia is scared, and has to tell all her family and friends she won’t see them again for a long time.

Weird pacing so far.

I think Cia will get accepted to the University.
