Status Updates From Metamorfosa Samsa

I'm reading it in german and it's hard to get through. this is the first time I read kafka's work and it feels like he wrote this in a way kids books are written. he spends more time describing who is standing where in the room than emotions or actions. it's like in drama when actors get the scenes described, but make it a whole book. kinda over this book

anyone have a light read rec after this?
i LOVED this book when i was 13 & felt like it put my experience of the world into words & now upon revisiting as an adult, i'm so fucking sad about how much i was suffering as a child like damn reading this book is actually tough
