Lennox looked up again from where he was feeding the tiny lamb with a baby's bottle.
Griffin had independently arranged with Marek to send up stock from the latest library to close, adding an invoice for the small fee and a slightly poignant note saying that if she was short of staff at any point to get in touch as the overgrown children he had to work with were all driving him absolutely crackers.

Nina gets to go a date with Marek. It was romantic at a tree crossing with a picnic. Nina kisses Marek. Surinder is still living with Nina and has not gone back to her job in Birmingham. Lennox accidentally broke up the date rushing a lamb attacked by a stray dog to the vet.

As she pulled the doors wide, the women in particular were practically jumping inside to have a book.

Nina has delivered twin lambs. She is living happily.
Quote:
Lennox looked appalled. "He's a dog, not a doggie. He's a professional working farm dog. Very valuable, too."
"Well, that sheep is worth a bit more than you, that's all, " said Lennox.
"It's just after three and getting light?" said Nina. "This is ridiculous. You basically live above the Arctic Circle. It's the land of the midnight sun."

"I never understand," he said, shaking his head, "why anyone would go to the trouble of making up new people in this world when there's already billions of the buggers I don't give a shit about."

All of Nina's books are in Scotland thanks to Surinder, Jim, and Marek. She could not be more thrilled. She has sold her first books and has found a cottage to rent with a beautiful stunning view. Life is looking up for Nina for a change.

She let her feet fly off the pedals and freewheeled faster and faster, watching the train speed ahead, knowing that even though she had no job, no pension, no partner, nothing at all except a rackety old van, somehow, more than ever in her life, she felt free.

This is a cozy read....I like the prose and wording in this book. The way Nina sees herself is so reflective of how introverts see themselves versus the world. The adventure of the van and book store are objects for Nina to master. Her self confidence is growing as tackles each challenge. I feel cozy when reading this book. I am excited for Nina.
