Too bad it’s coming from ‘the shadow’, confirmation that none of these girls are dangerous to their Allie’s. Maybe this book is trying to highlight that patriarchal fear of strong women they can’t control.

I want to hear more of Firebird's story in the past 20 years....I hope we get to her soon.

My opinion of book 4 is already higher because there is a woman as the occupation governor, when I think in 1987 the author would likely have made her husband the governor and her.....whatever. Although I do find it diturbing the Kiel's sister at age 5 was found morally questionable and encouraged to have her psychic centre removed. What. What 5 year old isn't morally questionable?

Awesome book! Even as a reread! Kathy Tyers knows how to write some excellent scifi! I love the Firebird series! One of the best out there!
