Still disappointed with the lack of depth, but that’s not Schreiner’s fault so much as the publisher’s.
I think Schreiner is wrong on meat sacrificed to idols. At one point, he says that one shouldn’t eat such meat because it is inherently idolatrous. In another, he says that the problem is eating when either the seller or a friend tells you it was sacrificed. The second one seems right, not the first, imo.

Man, after the amazing piece of work that is Schreiner’s commentary on Hebrews, I had hoped that this one would live up to that standard.
It does not, but that’s not because of the scholarship— I just think the Tyndale commentaries don’t go deep enough for me personally. Others may get more out if this than I am.
