I owe to Bartlett great gratitude for showing me that on the Italian peninsula history has had a curious habit of pouring together important cultural and political developments. This is the last of his courses I have not yet listened to, and a solid introduction to various of the most important city states, feudal or churchly authorities, that held their own in Italy of the early modern period.
