Status Updates From Fishing for Māui

It is homecoming to something that is not my own. Maori culture is part of NZ, but as the book states separate from western culture. Personally I tend to think is I more as a swirl cake Two different streams intertwined yet clearly separate too.
So when starting the book it feels like visiting and old friend I slip back into my feeling of awe, yet feeling as the outsider looking in. Magical, fun and great to read

This purports to be a modern New Zealand novel about an engaging family in crisis. The author’s first language was Maori! One of my best friends was in New Zealand in February and had nothing but great things to say about it. $1.34 ON AMAZON TODAY!

Seriously considering DNF-ing

I seem to be in the minority of people who've written reviews on this book because I'm not feeling this one! I was so excited to love it but the writing just isn't quite there... it feels more show than tell and I much prefer clever insight over a character saying "This is who I am". I want to be shown the character!
