Alice, Melanie, Lewis, the Aunt, the father- his brother Donny, and others finally realize how detrimental it is to prejudge people, spread rumors and keep secrets, to hold in sadness, fears, and pain.

A new girl, Melanie, who lives with her recluse Aunt, has a connection to the woods and the story web, also. the wood's animals play a major part of the story. They try to make a connection with the humans because the web is falling apart, and it will affect the world.

Alice and her father have a strong relationship, but now he is gone. He was a storyteller, and the "Story Web" was one of his favorite books. There is a woods in their town, where and her best friend liked to go. But something is wrong. Alice is feeling invisible. Friendships have broken and her favorite thing to do, hockey and skating, is now a cause for pain and sadness.
