I read this author's other book, The Little Princess and was surprised by how much I liked it. I'd heard and read about when I was an English teacher, So figured I'd grab this one for easy reading on a plane. The quality of storytelling is just as high now as in the earlier book

Reading a childhood classic with my lovely coffee-sister Francesca. Poor little Mary; she is a reminder that it’s always about what’s happened to a person that leads them to how they behave. The writing is also absolutely beautiful.
