This is definitely a slow burner, but plenty of reviews say it picks up pace once gets to the Baths.
I'm at that point now, but I'm struggling to get engrossed in this story. Some thoughts so far..
1. Plot is slow and preposterous.
2. Senlin is dull and unlikeable.
3. Writing is self indulgent and everything is spelt out too much for reader.
4. Senlin makes the theft of art to gain info on his wife so low octane.
