Our world is a very dangerous place for DNA

UVA radiation from the sun that penetrates our skin is capable of producing 100000 lesions every hour in our DNA

A cell can self destruct if the DNA in it is too damaged (apoptosis)

-the way we eat can force the extinction of some guy bateria: keeping us from passing it on to the next generation

-Lactobacillus reutori: a bacteria naturally found in our gut, it’s amazing!

-mothers milk for her baby is so important because it feeds the baby’s microbiome

-the more diverse & numerous our bacteria, the healthier we are

-I like that the author encouraged the reader to not focus so much on the scientific terms being explained, rather to see the overall picture/point

The concept of not washing your hands between conducting autopsies and helping delivery a baby is insane

I’m amazed by the way the body is designed, God is so intentional. It makes sense that he would leave answers for us to disease & sickness.

Ok I’m starting to understand the overall gist of the book, here’s what I learned:

we all have microscopic cancers growing in our body

our bodies defense system keeps them small by starving their blood supply & nutrients

Angiogenesis: the process our bodies use to grow & maintain blood vessels

excessive angiogenesis can feed diseased tissues

insufficient angiogenesis can lead to tissue loss

I am committing to reading this because it was a birthday gift from my husband…so far I’m afraid it’s too science heavy, but will keep going
