Status Updates From The Parisian

I’m deeply disappointed. Isabella Hammad writes lovely prose, but I really dislike this plot. I dislike <spoiler>when someone’s death is the catalyst for a romantic relationship, and I dislike that Midhat’s motivation to study psychiatric illness comes down to his romantic feelings, and I dislike that I’m supposed to feel something about Laurent’s death but she gave me no reason to care.</spoiler>

A cough hurtled up through her belly and out through her mouth.

The cough shot up and rattled out of her mouth.

Oh... so Midhat (The Parisian) is returning from Paris to Nablus and back home everybody thinks he became a medical doctor but he didn't finish going to med school and so maybe this is going to be interesting after all.

Finally. The plot moves to Paris. Took them long enough.
