Finished Chapter 1, The Gap Instinct. Rosling shows how we often divide the world into extremes,rich vs. poor, but most people live in between. He introduces four income levels to better reflect reality and explains how comparing averages, extremes, or “views from above” can mislead us. Eye-opening and well-illustrated with graphs, though a bit repetitive. Made me rethink how I perceive global progress.

It’s striking that most people are wrong about basic facts.But how can society improve if we don’t know the facts?

I loved Rosling’s focus on humility, curiosity, and accepting we can be wrong.

I disliked some repetition, but his insights on overdramatization and instincts creating preconceived ideas were eye-opening. Overall, it challenged my assumptions and made me reflect on how we perceive the world.
