I particularly liked the contribution of Alexander Beecroft. The article is seminal and provides an alternative perspective on the history of novel. He simply argues that "novel" was an invention of the West. He uses the term "narrative fiction" and claims that there were "narrative fiction-based" "novels" in history since the BCs... Good idea!
