got to say, this reading experience is greatly improved by ed glinert who did the notes of this compilation. thanks to him, i get to enjoy paragraphs like the 1 i just read:

its a swamp adder (note: theres no such snake)! the deadliest snake in india! he died w in 10 secs of being bitten. (note: no snake’s bite can kill this fast. also this speed of death is inconsistent w his victim).

I for the life of me can’t remember when I read a Study in Scarlet, but I know the second half of that book was a total drag to get through. I’m starting with this short story collection now, then I’ll go back and reread the first book afterwards. I liked this first short story. I like the writing style more than I did the first time around too. It’s interesting that it the mystery wasn’t a violent crime.
