one person's "poetic" is another person's "florid and overwritten", I guess? Well written but so far not my style.

“In fact, you’re the only person you can ask for or expect change from in service to yourself.”
River squinted at her. “Come again?”
“You don’t set limits to try to contain something in someone else. Not even when you think it’s for their best. You need to set limits to try to contain or manage something in yourself.”

Savasana was a moment in which one needed to learn how to be both aware and at rest.
He needed to surrender. To his faults, to his pain, to his strengths and gifts. With each breath, River focused on one muscle group at a time, letting his body settle heavy and relaxed onto his mat. Life, like yoga, was about conscious practice. Unlike in yoga, River had very little control over what the world might throw at him.

I’m 63% into this book but still have like 2hr read time and currently feeling sorely tempted to DNF... this is like 3rd time MC has used drugs on-page and I’m getting tired of the grey filling my head, but idk... I just can really tell this book isn’t a fit for me.... 😕😕

I can tell this is going to be a book with healing, surviving, and inner strength (definitely familiar themes for both authors) but this book just feels so grey... like, everything feels shrouded in greys in my head and I just don’t know how I’m feeling about this book...other than really craving something bright rn....

Idk of just I’m more familiar with Taylor’s writing, but feel like they’re coming through more strongly with both characters... at same time though, definitely getting more concrete feeling while most of Taylor’s writing is almost ephemeral. Idk yet my feelings...
