Status Updates From Stories of the Dreamlands

The Dreams in the Witch House (7/10) - I really enjoyed the buildup of this story, you learn a lot alongside Walter Gilman. Seeing the unraveling of his quest to understand what happened to that Old Witch Keziah. However, the first ten pages are a drag, and Lovecraft really draws out the buildup. I hate to say it, but it should have been shorter. I also dread just how genuinley clueless his characters are sometimes.

The Color out of Space (9/10) - I really enjoyed this story. Among awesome and terrible imaginings this story most impressively breaks away from many of Lovecraft's more frustrating tendencies. Fully leaning into the terror of the cosmic unknown; this really is one of his best.

The Strange High House in the Mist (6/10) - I like the concept of the story. In proper Lovecraft fashion the meat and potatoes of this tale are sandwiched between the thick bread of landscape description.

Pickman's Model (8/10) - I appreciate when Lovecraft shifts his formula, and this is no exception. I too loved the concept of this story, and both elements combined to help me in giving this tale the highest rating I've given any story in this book so far.

Cool Air (7/10) - Starts rough, but turns out in the end. Personally I really fell for the concept of this one.
