I'm still torn. I'm waiting for the moment where she blames everything on something more than the total load theory, maybe an admission that autism is our brains being genuinely different, but she never says that. Is this whole book going to be about autism and the total load theory? Because if so, this book could definitely have been titled better...

I'm still really not sure what to think about this book. On one hand, I agree with some of what she's saying, but on the other hand... she says it in a rather... brusque manner, I suppose. I'm almost insulted.

I'm not sure what to think of this book yet. The author has made some insensitive remarks, making it seem like autism NEEDS cured in all cases, bringing it up as an epidemic that we need to work towards lessening rather than accepting that people are different. She's gone into the science advances that are occurring as people try to figure out what autism is, but it all comes down to my original point: she's callous.

My jaw dropped several times as I was presented with information newer to me. So many feelings of guilt that “I had done this to my daughter” that I am now trying to process and move forward from. Definitely eye opening!
