Status Updates From The Witness Tree

I'm interested to know what happened to Lily actually. If Mrs. Swenson was alive I wonder if lily was too. I wonder if she ever read Ned's letters. If she ever found out about what he did.

Lily is heart broken and grieving. I think deep down she knows she will never see cisco again and that baby was their only connection. Now she will never see that baby again.

Mrs. Swenson was the only character I enjoyed. At this point I think the author is just killing off characters to make it a sad book. Doesn't seem very necessary

I don't love pregnancy books. They just make me uncomfy. This part is definitely sad, but I do agree that if she is giving the child up for adoption it's best she doesn't spend time with them.

I'm glad she went and visited her parents. I don't think she should have waited for someone to die to do so but that was sweet

Why does Dani feel scared nothing happened to her and the author didn't describe anything that spooked her in the moment other than the idea of Ned but in that case she's just being dramatic

So she's not going back simply becuase she doesn't want to Marry Ned. Ned being evil again and hinting on an affair with his secretary. How old is this man?

She doesn't know?

That's so traumatizing. Poor Stevie he was so young at the time. I can't believe they didn't know Mrs. Swanson was alive at that time of course they were gonna be cursed lonney wasn't the last

Ewww their moving to fast. I also did not like the way she was talking about him it felt fetishy and weird

This was a nice way to get her perspective through her telling a story. Sadly I know exactly what's going to happen becuase it's already been said in the book. This was a interesting chapter though had my attention

Once again confused with the chapter headings. I can't tell if this one is in lily or Elaine's perspective. And you know what would help if the headings actually matched who's perspective it was

I don't see why it would be a problem if she was reading that letter unless Mrs. Swenson was lying and she was lily otherwise there's really no point. It wasn't an intimate letter or anything.

I like the librarian. I would take the apartment stuff I'm guessing Lloyd just wanted to drive the price up so Jacob would go broke trying to get it but if not I have no clue

To continue the chapter in Ned's perspective is crazy. Why even have lily's name up there if she's barely in it. I like how Ned is clearly being evil. I wish the author didn't give it away in Danis perspective last chapter, it would be fun to have that reveal. I can't figure out around how old Ned is. Lily seems to be just graduating highschool and Ned was her highschool sweetheart but he has too much power for that.

What should be the end of Ned's chapter. I really don't like him and I know that's the point. I can tell he cares for Lily, but not in a healthy way. He wants to control her becuase he loves the idea of her but doesn't actually like her personality. It's kind of scary how possessive he is at the end calling her his wife Although it feels like they broke up since she rejected his proposal and he stormed off

I know it's not the end of the world, but it bothers me that the chapter says Lily but it's from Ned's perspective. I get wanting to add his perspective but make it his own chapter. Ned chapter 17, Lily chapter 18. It's such a small change but I feel it would make the story more fluent and gives the author the opportunity to really get in more fleshed out detail about this characters perspective

I think it's a bit of a stretch to blame only Jacob for everything. Yes, it's terrible but these things happen and they all decided to help despite the curse so that's their decision. Like yes it's terrible, but no reason to outcast Jacob in my opinion. Also no way in hell am I supposed to believe that the curse caused Danis ex to OD, in a complete other state. That's a stretch

I'm starting to be okay with this book I've adjusted to the writing. Still don't love it but I'm glad I didn't dnf it. Lily's character this chapter was a bit inconsistent. I don't think she's a hider at all actually. A runner maybe but not a hider. I'm glad she didn't agree to Marry Ned that would have made her situation worse bit I am wondering if he is the guest her mom invited for dinner to maybe try to force her

I actually felt bad for Dani in this chapter. I felt it was important to show her character in a more vulnerable way. And it felt real becuase you really do mourn a person when you notice that drug abuse is starting to change them for the worse and knowing you can't help them

I was a bit uncomfortable with parts of this chapter. I wasn't sure if the author was hinting that they were shadey becuase of they were men or becuase they were Hispanic but I didn't care for that section. The tree is the one she's hiding under so now I know the tree is important to Lily but otherwise nothing new about it

When Dani mentions that she recognizes Elaine in the photo my interest was peeked. That we would have a small mistory, I thought maybe Elaine was the librarian or it could be Donna's mother. But at the end of the chapter it's given away that the librarian is Elaine's sister. I was less upset that I was wrong than that the author didn't leave it as a question for ateast a bit longer.

I think for the most part the characters are just boring. They feel like self insert characters like in fan fiction. I agree Ned is not a good guy. The possessiveness and agression only increases with alcohol use. I'm sure that It'll get worse in the future. He may be her downfall, since the author has set this up to be a tragic romance.

I'm trying to leave my reflections for at the end of each chapter but I think it's important to note Lily's idea of love. It's very unrealistic. Love is not something that just happens and consumes you and if that's what you think love is your doomed to not find your relationship satisfying. Love takes work and stability. You can't get everything from one relationship that's a lot to ask. Existing as your own people

This is just my opinion but I find it kind of annoying to here about the same thing over and over. Like I get it it's important, but tell me something you haven't already told me last chapter add details or something

See the idea that Jacob didn't get his own separated chapter but Dani has two chapters back to back makes no sense to me

I was caught off guard with the sudden switch of pov to Jacob. I understand why the author included it to get his perspective in the moment instead of having Dani witness it. However I think it would have helped me as the reader, If it was separated as a new chapter with his name at the top, Like for Dani and lily. That way the author could have also delved into his character and history more
