In keeping with Carey's writing, there's always a portion of the book that's more dull than the others. I hope the Court section was that and the Sea section can finish off with a bang. If it's anything like Kushiel, things are about to go horribly wrong. My guess, Crown Prince conspired with Evil Country, who will attack the ship, kidnap Zariya, kill the king, and possibly toss Khai overboard
