Status Updates From Gravity’s Rainbow

I’m literally spite reading at this point simply to say I finished this book. Sure, let the prose spill over your psyche and you “enjoy” but if you think I’ll read this book several times to “truly enjoy it” you’re mistaken in regard to this reader.

This has come up a few times, but what language are they speaking? Does everyone in this book speak English? In the Zone, are they all speaking German and Pynchon is translating? It seems unlikely that a random Russian soldier they run into deep in Germany would just automatically speak English.
