A little disappointed. So much of the language is still entrenched in the gender constructs and concept of patriarchy. It doesn't feel like as earth shattering a read on 2025 as it would have in 69. I think the awe around it keeps people from exploring the writing more critically from a modern lens.

I forgot how weird this book is! Finding it hard to empathize with the main character (whose name I don't know, but then I haven't been paying the keenest of attentions). I will give it to the librarian, it is a perfect read for this stark, cold weather.
