Status Updates From Risk Aware (Saugatuck #2)

AG is one of those authors that almost works: her themes and story blurbs catch my eye, I feel the flow initially, but the story always ends up preachy or false or another element that I don’t like surprise slapping me in the face. This one was tolerably preachy because the hemophilia was interesting, but the emphasis of building their relationship around hook up culture or scene culture stopped my connection.

// So this author knew when to stop on that path and make a recovery and now we’re kind of coming back with Geoff and he’s really working on himself and he’s becoming better I would say! I really like that conversation that he had with Robin in terms of analyzing the situation and reassuring him and letting him know how he feels, and just reassuring Robyn as a whole ... I really like that!

This was dictated!!

// This author is destroying the book with her characterization of Geoff!! It doesn’t endear his situation to the reader in terms of enticing people to want to know more about his condition!! Further to that fact, she is making him so damn unlikable; every time Robin genuinely asks about his condition so he can learn and help, Geoff hisses or snaps or snarls or does something equally aggressive and mean and rude!!!

// So they have an opportunity now to have a discussion about what happened and they are deflecting and talking about something else, or more specifically about something else?!? What is this author doing… It’s fucking pissing me off!! Geoff needs to profusely apologize for flipping out and being a total cunt to Robin about his condition and his bleeds and his injuries, pure and simple!!

// And if they get back together I want Geoff to be the one to run after Robin and I want him to do the work and I want him to grovel … And of course apologize, profusely!!

// And Geoff, with all due respect, with the way you’ve been acting anybody should walk away from you! Your bullshit issues with your condition makes you emotionally abusive! If you want a relationship with anybody you better fucking stop it!! At this point Robin definitely and I mean most definitely deserves better than you!!

He doesn’t tell Robin all of the facts that Robin needs to know in order to properly take care of him in a scene, he’s offensive and defensive about his condition, and when Robin shows any kind of care or concern or interest in his condition he’s snippy and derisive and condescending and defensive and rude and just plain fucking obnoxious…!! But he still wonders why Robin left!

// I am having a lot of issues with Geoff… He wants a lot and he takes a lot but letting Robin in in regards to his haemophiliac status and being snippy and bitchy and defensive every time Robin asks him a question, grates on my nerves like nobody’s fucking business!! Geoff just acts like a bitch too often for me to just let it slide and I don’t know how I’ll rate this book! Geoff is a bitch!!

// This book feels hella along! Pacing here is so slow ... while it feels like we are at 70%, looking now and seeing that we are only at 50% makes it feel never ending! It’s a nice book but I need more to happen to really engage me!!

// I just realized that this is the 2nd book in this series and while I'm very sure the books can be read independently from one another, I have to wonder if the books are entirely independent from one another in terms of timelines as well, because the 1st book [which I also own] seems to be about Jace and his HEA/HFN, but in this book, he's single and definitely mingling o__O!! So, ummm, huh?!? We shall see!!

// I’m definitely not an expert on haemophilia but I’m pretty sure, unless research tells me otherwise, that clapping him on the shoulder isn’t a good idea either, because even something that small can be incredibly detrimental!!

I’m fascinated by the contrast of Geoff tattooing Robin.

Robin does such a good job with negotiating boundaries and limits!
