Status Updates From Leviathan

Part 3 Of a Christian Commonwealth complete. Hobbes' anxiety about the fragility of the world, as he's writing during the English Civil War, is apparent. The conclusion to part 3 ends by somewhat saying believing in Christ saves your soul in the next life, and that belief in authority and scripture towards a sovereign can save your life in this one. A need for security that drives us all, in good and terrifying ways.

An incredible book marking the beginning of social contract theory. It was truly inspirational to find that much of political philosophy revolves around the various topics introduced by Hobbes. Though Hobbes was a Christian, a lot of what he writes alludes to key existentialist ideas - hundreds of years prior!

فصل چهل و ششم جذاب بود. هابز بی‌پرده به فلسفه افلاطون میتازد. متافیزیک او را مهملات میپندارد و فلسفه سیاسی و اخلاقی او را نوعی بازی با کلمات و مغلطه. هابز پایش سفت در ماتریالیسم است، افسوس که افق سیاسی او با ترس و بدبینی آغشته و اجازه خلاقیت ندارد

بخش دولت ظلمت هم چون بخش قبل میتوان روزنامه‌‌وار خواند. در لابلای آن نکات جالبی از هستی‌شناسی هابز به چشم میخورد که جالب هستند. همچون کالبد شکافی شیاطین و ارواح.
